Unsung Heriones - Lillian Ngoyi

Heroines this column is an imperative reminder of our struggle and that this democracy did not come on a silver platter. “So we have to cautiously practice our freedom, celebrating it responsibly… to better our lives.
As we seek to recognize and embrace our living heritage, we should also be in search of our local Icons whom we don't read or hear about?

I wish allude a revolutionary song,
Lullabies commemorating the ‘cry our beloved country,
Seeking comfort in the pen & paper…
On the street walls & bill boards will I write of…

Lillian Ngoyi [1911—1980] has played a significant role in South African politics. And today we celebrate Women's’ Month through courageous icon women like her.
Was a nurse and became a clothing factory machinist, andgot involved in labour action with the Garment Workers Union.
Joined the ANC during the 1950s defiance Campaign. A principled stand, courage and gift as a public speaker helped advance quickly into leadership of the ANC Women's League.
A founder member of FEDSAW in 1954, she then became the first woman on the ANC national executive committee. She was integral to the creation of the Freedom Charter in 1955. On the 09 August 1956 she led the women’s anti-pass march on the union buildings in Pretoria, one of the largest demonstration staged in South African history. In 1956 Lillian goyi was unsuccessfully tried for high treason along 156 others. She was imprisoned, banned and detained in solitary confinement many times.

Untitled Tribute to Mabrr
By: QrasVu?

For the Love of God gave birth to the earth.
Where martyrs walked the earth
Bared the pain…and gave birth to,
Salvation, Revolution, Freedom and Redemption to

Nations longing for the her bosom
She’s given birth to truth & right,
Conceiving the finest herbs, perfumes and ointments.

“you can see it from the stars above,”
Her eyes shine through to the future innocently,

Her birth writes pages of herstory & history,
For womb is mightier than sword?
Her man is the page of a next life time

‘Cause out of this womb…
Shall come out a breath of life to beast and ‘man,
Conceiving a woman – being,
To give birth to many.

Out her womb shall come out
Noah who saved the womb-earth,
Mosses to lead the exodus ‘movement of God’s people’

Cause out of this womb conceived was the law on two tablets.
This womb blessed with the holy spirit

Torturous Love
By: QrasVu?

A simple phrase… Despite its suffix,
Yet will make you feel good & special.
Indivisible yet we feel its wrath.

An expression so innocent… behind the doors of our hearts,
Love’s torturous and soothing.

Complicated…it’s a gun
I guess I need a bullet proof soul.

From all stories told,
My tale remains untold,

“Nothing is new under the moon but love is torturous and unforgiving”?

E_Cult Back Yard Production

Well whats a morning without a few strings, the video was captured by Noah Mapachane

Wednesday, February 25, 2009

It was on the 15 June, the year 2006 AC, my B– day [birth day], a day that had me filled with so much excitement because I knew that day God had a plan for me.
That plan was Holy Hip—Hop. Now what is holy Hip—Hop? Holy Hip—Hop is a mind blowing ecstasy that forces on to live and at the same time forces those around you to sit up and listen to what you have to say.

Holy Hip—Hop is a philosophy that is grounded deep on the defensive solidarity of the dance floor;
Flowtry, mixed with rhythm creating an economy of words that take you from the ordinary to extraordinary.
Holy Hip—Hop is a the pursuit of happiness, something that does not come by chance or with age or even with achievement; Holy Hip—Hop is the antidote movement for everything I had been thinking concerning religion, losing my mother to HIV/ AIDS, being eighteen [turning nineteen soon] and still a virging.

Holy Hip—Hop is a conscious way of life not based on how much money I have and believe it or not, it is not based on the worth being determined by the price of clothes or so called bling—bling… the only bling—bling I need is the Bible.

A new sound, movement on the rise, something to stop you in your tracks, created by master man in His Mighty Plan. God our Father with the world in the palm of His hand, knew from the begin which art form would be demand and touched it with His Holy hand creating a sound that the worlds apart from the Hip– Hop we know today. Holy Hip—Hop that has become ego—driven and Port Elizabeth’s b—boy. Mc Giant, in his own right , they can call him Nova would agree with me. I’m not sure if you/ or him would agree with my thoughts on Holy Hip—Hop? I remember telling him about it, he said he had never heard of it, “I don’t know if you heard of it?” But he would agree that his definition of Hip—Hop closely congruent to my definition of Holy Hip—Hop.

You see Holy Hip—Hop is something to speak to you, something to set you free, something to deliver you and if you are believer in Christ, it’s like a rand in Heavens lottery and if you black, your spirit is snow but your skin still mahogany.
Holy Hip—Hop may seem as a hobby, no, it is rooted deep in the gospel breaking ground and raising up soldiers to spread the gospel with that gangster style beat.

To Nova, if he had read this, my question would be what keeps him grounded? When Holy Hip—Hop has become an excuse to use vulgar lingo as a form of expression to get a point across.

May be he is not affected by the Holy Hip—Hop music, he isb-boy and b-boy music does not have much lyrics. But either way the brother clearly knows his stance, the true Hip-Hop, a new civilization I embrace with being a Christian. This is the Hip—Hop still exists in those who develop and express their individuality, whether it is their sense of style, or even their manner of speaking, if it is their preferred way of doing some thing strays from the new mainstream of what Holy Hip—Hop is today then all power to them- all power to Black Pride Hip– Hop movement.

Well that’s from Unity, I’ll hold my breath till the next issue… with something in the midst mind
Peace…
Holy Hip—Hop by: Unity a.k.a ‘Daisy’

E_Cult Journey

Our lyrical journey goes through the dusty and rusty streets of Galeshewe through to Greater No. 5 ‘waar die exza fly for survival’. Its been a problem differentiating between what they call ‘Poetry, RAP & Hip-Hop’ some see them the same and confused, threatened by RAP & Hip-Hop seemingly they’ll over throw poetry as a medium? But never the less it safe to say that “poetry is here to stay. For your information poetry gave birth to RAP & Hip-Hop.

“E- Cult” presents ‘RAW “M” CLAN’. The Hip– Hop biz is a serious t’ing for this guys. Started raping since the late 90’s during the resurrection of under ground Hip—Hop culture; before the birth of “Expression Culture” in 2004. One cannot compare them to the new breed of Mzansis’ Hip– Hop because
of the uniqueness right from the Ghetto of Greater No.5.
‘RAW “M” CLAN’ is group of five young enthusiastic men Tidal Wave, Term, Chucky, Saizo, Gapz producer commonly known on the Mic - stand. In collaborations personally I regard them the ‘CONECTION FIVE’ when featuring other mcs from No.5. This crew comes recommended by the likes of Unda World Crew an old school crew who live to see Hip– Hop holds its head high.
During hip– hop sessions they proven to one of our ‘Galeshewe undiscovered gems by Open Heimer’. You witness the pure skill of the ‘RAW “M” CLAN’.
Their content is unique Kimberley slang that is mastered by the chosen few; the beat content is more of an under ground taste, dashed with new school flavor beats. They have performed for crowds that went woo!
And now to prove what they’re made of they have a first attempt album BLACK DIAMONDS MIXED TAPE featuring local mcs. Currently busy with a ‘lwaat rap project’. The future is bright for the brothers

Definition of Self

Definition of self

I define myself through this words that i utter, through the eyes of God in my mind, i walk the grounds of this land with knowledge of self within me. I define my colour on this canvas.I find my self within the spoken words of my people,on discovery to find the knowledge and messages left behind for us to learn from. Time has left us with misteries and tribulations, and we need to define the us that we are, generations has gone by being dictated on how we define us how we should speak, live, eat, say and think.

SO HOW DO U DEFINE URSELF

Remember 12 September

only at the age of 30 as life was taken away from one of the most instrumental icon of the south african policts. Steve Bantu Biko was arrested on September of 1977 by the south african police and died on detention. Steve Biko left us with philosophies that created the better Azania, and I believe that the ideologies that he left us are still relevant up to this day. so lets bow our heads on the 12 september and give respect to this remarkable icon of our time.
